Decodo (formerly known as SmartProxy) is one of the most popular proxy providers, operating since 2018. The headquarters is located in Lithuania, and the company has more than 100 employees, which shows its scale and reliability. Also, the website design deserves separate praise — it is excellent and carefully crafted down to the smallest details.

In addition, Decodo is a co-founder of EWDCI (Ethical Web Data Collection Initiative), which includes providers such as OxyLabs, Evomi, and ProxyEmpire. EWDCI certification guarantees that all proxies are sourced in an ethical manner.

Registration

The registration process on the website is very simple and intuitive. To register, visit https://decodo.com/ and click the “Create account” button. Then you will be redirected to the registration page, where you can sign up using Google, GitHub, or the standard Email/Password method.

Selecting and purchasing proxies

After registration, you will be taken to the dashboard. On the left side, there is a menu with proxy types:

• Residential proxies (traffic-based pricing)
• Mobile proxies (traffic-based pricing)
• ISP proxies (IP-based or traffic-based pricing)
• Datacenter proxies (IP-based or traffic-based pricing)
• Site Unblocker (traffic-based pricing)

First, you need to purchase proxies or use a trial version.

Important: The free trial is available only for traffic-based proxy plans. Also, the trial is issued only after you activate a subscription. You will not be charged during the trial period, but after 3 days, when the trial ends, the payment will be automatically processed for the selected plan. Therefore, if you do not want to keep the plan after the trial, make sure to cancel the subscription to avoid charges!

Proxy setup

After payment, three additional tabs will appear on this page: “Proxy setup”, “Authentication”, and “Usage statistics”.

In the “Proxy setup” tab, you can configure your proxies using the following parameters:

• Location (Continent, Country, or City)
• ASN (Autonomous System Number)
• Rotation time
• Protocol type (HTTP(S) or SOCKS5)
• Number of endpoints

In the “Authentication” tab, you can edit your proxy username/password or add IP authentication. The screenshot below shows how to add IP-based authentication.

In the “Usage statistics” tab, you can track the usage of your proxies.

Canceling a subscription

To cancel your subscription, click on your profile in the top-right corner and select “My Subscriptions”.

Then click “Cancel subscription”, choose the reason for cancellation, and confirm by clicking “Cancel subscription” again.

Additional tools

In addition to proxy services, Decodo also offers:

• Web Scraping — including a standard scraper via API, ready-made solutions, and integrations. There is also a Video Downloader and AI parser.

• X Browser (Anti-detect browser) — discontinued, support ended on March 30, 2026.
