Shifter in short. Rotation Residential Proxies from $0.75/GB, ISP Proxies from $1.26/IP (prices checked October 20, 2026).

Shifter's residential traffic bottoms out at $0.75/GB, and its ISP addresses cost from $2.50 per IP a month for a handful down to $1.26 at 200 addresses, with unlimited traffic. Prices verified in October 2026.

The company is American, has been selling proxies since 2012, and runs a pool of 205M+ addresses that it slices into three separate residential products at three different prices. What it sells is scale on a monthly bill: packages you renew or cancel, static coverage in countries most providers skip, and a browser extension for people who would rather not touch a config file. What it does not sell is a long leash on refunds.

Who Shifter fits and who should look elsewhere

Shifter is built for buyers who spend monthly and already know roughly how much traffic they burn. Residential plans are month-to-month packages, and the per-gigabyte price stops falling at $0.75/GB, so the provider pays off for people who sit on the flat part of the ladder: price monitoring, catalog collection, ad checks at volume. If that is your work, start with the rotating residential product.

Getting in is quick, too. Shifter states that accounts activate within minutes with no KYC review and that every plan bills month to month, so you can be running the same day you decide, without sending documents to anyone.

The second thing it does well is static addresses in places most sellers skip. ISP locations at Shifter are picked after the purchase, on the plan page, and the documentation counts 120 countries, 1800+ cities and 900+ networks, with each city and ASN pair showing how many addresses are free right now (Shifter documentation, read 20 October 2026). Traffic on ISP addresses is unlimited, and Shifter states a 99.9% uptime SLA for them.

Our catalog records 118 of those countries, from the availability list Shifter publishes, which is still an unusually long list for ISP proxies. The same offer appears in our catalog under static residential proxies too, at the same prices and in the same countries: Shifter sells one product, and buyers search for it under two names.

Skip Shifter if the job is small and one-off. The cheap pools only open at large packages, and the lightest residential tier is 5 GB for $10, which works out to $2/GB, twice the price of the 50 GB package.

Skip it too for static work that needs SOCKS5. Shifter's documentation says the protocol is not supported on ISP proxies and points you to residential instead. And its ISP addresses hold the city and the network for the whole term while the address itself can refresh, the way a home connection does (FAQ read 20 October 2026). If a target ties an account to one exact IP, that refresh is a risk.

Three residential pools, and only one of them is in the grid above

Open the residential order page in the dashboard and you choose a pool before you choose a package. Full Geo carries 205M+ addresses with country, state, city and ASN targeting and is marked Recommended. Country Geo and Non-Geo hold 31M+ each: the first lets you pick a country only, the second hands you a worldwide mix with no location control at all (dashboard, 20 October 2026).

Shifter dashboard: residential pool choice between Full Geo, Country Geo and Non-Geo with monthly packages

This matters for the grid higher on this page, because that grid records Full Geo and nothing else. Country Geo opens at $0.48/GB and Non-Geo at $0.10/GB, so if you compare our table against Shifter's own pricing page, you are comparing two different products and wondering why the floors disagree. Check the pool name first.

Read those cheap floors as package prices, not entry prices. Country Geo's smallest package is 165 GB for $99, and Non-Geo does not start below 996 GB for $249 (shifter.io/pricing, checked 20 October 2026). You cannot buy either of them in a size that makes a test cheap.

What it actually costs

The number worth knowing is not the entry price but the point where the discount stops working. On Full Geo residential that point is $0.75/GB, and the ladder never goes below it, however many terabytes you add. Past 200 GB you are buying the same gigabyte at the same price.

5-8 GB 2$/GB, 10-13 GB 2$/GB, 15-20 GB 1.5$/GB, 25-38 GB 1.25$/GB, 40-60 GB 1$/GB, 100-150 GB 1$/GB, 200 GB 0.75$/GB, 250-350 GB 0.75$/GB, 500-600 GB 0.75$/GB, 700-850 GB 0.75$/GB, 1000 GB 0.75$/GB, 2000 GB 0.75$/GB…01.252.52$/GB5-8 GB1.5$/GB15-20 GB1$/GB40-60 GB0.75$/GB200 GB500-600 GB1000 GB3000 GB

In money, the mid package is 200 GB for $149 a month and the next one is 400 GB for $299 (dashboard, 20 October 2026). Priority support is crossed out on the two smaller packages and appears from the 200 GB tier up, so the speed of your support queue depends on the size of your plan rather than on the severity of your problem.

One thing no grid shows: on 20 October 2026 the site was running a buy-one-get-one offer, a second month free with the full traffic allowance. For a first order that means two months of traffic for the price of one, so check whether the offer is still live before you pay.

How Shifter compares on price

Rotation Residential Proxies, $/GB

Provider 40-60 GB 100-150 GB 1000 GB
Shifter $1.00 $1.00 $0.75
NodeMaven $3.98 $3.75 $2.75
Proxy Seller $2.30 $2.20 $1.45
Proxyscrape $2.65 $2.20 $1.50
Thordata $1.50 $1.00 $0.73
Geonix $2.10 $1.80 $0.75

Below 100 GB the gap is real: Shifter charges about a quarter of what NodeMaven does on the same package size. At a terabyte the advantage evaporates, because Thordata undercuts it and Geonix matches it to the cent.

40-60 GB Thordata 1.5$/GB, 40-60 GB Shifter 1$/GB, 40-60 GB Geonix 2.1$/GB, 40-60 GB Proxy Seller 2.3$/GB, 40-60 GB Proxyscrape 2.65$/GB, 40-60 GB NodeMaven 3.98$/GB, 100-150 GB Thordata 1$/GB, 100-150 GB Shifter 1$/GB, 100-150 GB Geonix 1.8$/GB, 100-150 GB Proxy Seller 2.2$/GB, 100-150 GB Proxyscrape 2.2$/GB, 100-150 GB NodeMaven 3.75$/GB…02.551.512.12.32.653.9840-60 GB111.82.22.23.75100-150 GB0.730.750.751.451.52.751000 GBThordataShifterGeonixProxy SellerProxyscrapeNodeMaven

ISP Proxies, $ per IP a month

Provider 10 IPs 50 IPs 200-250 IPs
Shifter $2.00 $1.54 $1.26
NodeMaven $4.05 $3.75 $3.50
Proxy Seller $2.91 $2.70 $2.40
Proxyscrape $2.99 $2.33 $1.98
Geonix $1.84 $1.48 $1.34

Geonix beats Shifter on the small and mid steps of this table, and NodeMaven costs more than twice as much at fifty addresses. What Geonix cannot offer is the map: 21 ISP countries against Shifter's 118, and that is the whole reason to pay the small premium here.

Non-Geo traffic at $0.10/GB is cheaper than anything in the table above, but it is a different product: you cannot choose the country of the exit address. For any job where the answer depends on location, such as local prices or search results, Non-Geo does not fit at any price.

What you buy besides the gigabyte, and what a test costs

The 205M+ figure belongs to Full Geo. The two cheaper pools are several times smaller, so the cheapest traffic here also comes from the thinnest inventory.

Provider Pool Trial Refund window
Shifter 205M+ Free 72 h
NodeMaven 30M+ $3.50 None
Proxy Seller 47M+ None 24 h
Proxyscrape 120M+ Free 72 h
Thordata 100M+ Free Yes
Geonix 15M+ $1.99 24 h

Trying Shifter costs nothing up front, and the refund tile on this page gives you 72 hours to change your mind. NodeMaven charges for its trial and carries no refund, so there the trial is the only test you ever get. Geonix charges less for a trial and gives you a day afterwards.

Payment is unusually wide here: six methods, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and WeChat Pay, which matters when a company card refuses to travel.

The browser extension for Chrome and Firefox signs in with the account's API key, so you can open a target site through a chosen location before you write any code.

Traffic Alerts in account settings fire at 70, 80 and 90 percent of your plan by default, and on a monthly package that alert is what keeps a scraper from stopping without warning. The support block in the dashboard promises a reply "usually within an hour". That is Shifter's claim, we have not timed it.

One clause belongs in your cost model rather than in the fine print. A third-party abuse complaint linked to your addresses brings a $50 processing fee and possible account termination at Shifter's own discretion. On shared residential inventory you do not control who files such a complaint, so price that in as a risk premium on top of the gigabyte.

What buyers say

Shifter is old enough to have left traces on forums, not just on review sites. On blackhatworld one user writes that the residential proxies have been adequate for their needs over an extended stretch of use, which is a quieter and more useful verdict than most praise cheap pools collect. A thread on reddit pulls the other way: one user says the service was mixing junk addresses into what was sold as genuine residential traffic.

That complaint lands next to something Shifter states about itself, that part of the pool is sub-contracted from third-party suppliers rather than owned outright. Resold inventory is not automatically bad, but it does explain why two accounts opened the same week can see different quality. The terms also state that you have no direct claim against those suppliers, only the claims and remedies written into the terms of service. Your only counterparty is Shifter.

On Trustpilot the profile carries the platform's own note that the company has not invited its customers to leave reviews, so read that sample as self-selected.

Two scenarios

Scenario A, scraping retail prices across several markets at roughly 400 GB a month, with city and network controls in play. That is Full Geo on the $299 package, and the gigabyte is already at its floor, so stepping up to a terabyte makes the invoice larger without making the traffic cheaper. Buy the size you use and keep the alerts on. One limit belongs in the plan before you pick targets: Shifter's terms strictly prohibit using its scraping services to collect data from Twitter, X or any affiliated site, and the stated consequence is immediate termination.

Scenario B, twenty long-lived accounts in a country few sellers stock, which is multi-accounting territory. ISP at $1.68 per IP in the 20-30 band puts that under $35 a month with unlimited traffic on those addresses. Choose the city and network with care, because at Shifter that choice is made once and stays.

What the terms say and how it connects

The refund tile above says 72 hours. Shifter's ISP FAQ is narrower: "3-day money-back guarantee on first purchase. Eligible if you contact support within 3 days of the charge." The guarantee attaches to a first purchase, so a renewal or a second order has no claim on the same grounds. The terms of service add that cancellation has to be submitted in writing through the portal or billing simply continues.

The same terms also remove your fallback: the customer "agrees not to contest, seek reimbursement, chargeback or otherwise seek non-payment or reversal of any payment however made". If support declines a refund, your card issuer is not a second chance, so treat the first order as the only money you are willing to risk.

Shifter: ISP Proxies come with a 3-day money-back guarantee that applies only to a customer's first purchase.

Screenshot: shifter.io/docs/products/isp-proxies/faq, October 2026

The other clause that changes the order itself concerns location. For ISP addresses, "This choice is set once, before your IPs are provisioned, and cannot be changed afterward, so pick what matches your workflow." You pick the country, city and network before the addresses exist, and a wrong pick means buying again.

On residential the plumbing is generous: HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5, a new address on every request or a sticky session you set anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes (shifter.io, read 20 October 2026).

FAQ

  • Which proxy types does Shifter sell?
    • Rotating residential traffic in monthly packages and static ISP addresses priced per IP with unlimited traffic. Residential comes in three pools with different targeting and different prices.
  • What is the difference between Full Geo, Country Geo and Non-Geo?
    • Full Geo has 205M+ addresses with country, state, city and ASN targeting from $0.75/GB. Country Geo has 31M+ with country targeting only from $0.48/GB. Non-Geo has 31M+ with no location choice at all from $0.10/GB.
  • Is there a free trial or a refund?
    • A trial is available, its length depends on the account. Refunds are possible within 3 days. On ISP proxies that guarantee applies to a first purchase only, so test on a small order.
  • How does rotation work?
    • You get a new IP on every request or a sticky session you set between 1 and 30 minutes. HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 are all supported on residential.
  • Do ISP proxies support SOCKS5?
    • No. Shifter's documentation states that SOCKS5 is not supported on ISP proxies and directs those workflows to residential.
  • Can I change the country of my ISP addresses later?
    • No. The location is chosen once before the addresses are provisioned and cannot be changed afterwards, so plan the city and network list before ordering.
  • How can I pay?
    • Six methods: crypto, Visa and Mastercard, Google Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal and WeChat Pay.
  • Is there an API or a browser extension?
    • Yes to both. The account carries one API key, and the same key signs in the Shifter extension for Chrome and Firefox, which connects to a location in one click without proxy setup.
